4 teenagers who have been sent to detention, and forced to remove staples from thousands of magazines as punishment before recycling, find an old video game console and decide to play a game to pass time before getting to work on the staples. The students pick their players and magically get sucked into the game. Only they are not themselves anymore, they are the characters they chose. They are transported to the jungle and are given the task of returning a stone to the jaguar shaped mountain. The movie plays out just like a video, levels, bosses, clues, it's all there. Luckily, one of the characters is a video game nerd and can help lead the way throughout the game. Each character has a list of strengths, and weaknesses and everyone is given 3 lives. Let the game begin.
I didn't really expect to like it, but it was a really fun movie. I am a fan of the 90's version, and of course expected the worst in a remake. The acting was spot on, and I really enjoyed the new spin on the story.
