#112 Black Swan (108 minutes)

This is my 2nd favorite Aronofsky film, behind Pi.

Nina a ballet dancer is the front runner to the lead role in the New York Ballet's newest rendition of Swan Lake. The art director expects 1 dancer to embody the role of the white swan as well as the black swan. Nina nails the audition for the white swan, but lacks the emotion of the black swan. After class one day the art director Thomas forces himself on Nina, and she bites his lip making him bleed. After this event Thomas believes that Nina may have the black swan in her after all. He gives her the lead. Soon after Nina being stressed and overworking herself starts to doubt her skill and strives for perfection. Nina believes to fantasize about the new dancer Lily, and begins seeing things differently and feeling things she never felt before. Although Nina has these feelings for Lily, she also believes that Lily is out to get her part.
